VA bonuses????
You've got to be kidding more than $24 million in bonuses to VA employees in the past 2 years $60000+ to the recently retired head J. Duncan who as auditors said approved bonuses like she had a blank check, totally disgusting. Why isn't she under arrest?
First question why are tax dollars paying bonuses to government employees in the first place. It is not a profit driven corporation so all it does is drive up taxes, don't use the excuse they are doing a good job and saving money, VA claims backlogs are up to 65%. Just more government inefficiency, sloth and probably out right theft with no accountability.
The post office is no better. They pay no taxes have no competition in the letter delivery unless it's overnight, they are protected by the feds so they don't even need their own security and they're operating at a loss while UPS, and FedEx are making money. Again total government inefficiency and sloth. Nothing but laziness no accountability.
I'll bet most government managers and above couldn't cut it in the private sector because they'd have to produce and there is no way these losers can do anything but sit at a desk wait for their breaks and collect an unearned paycheck. You don't get paid or get bonuses if you don't produce in the private sector you don't even keep your job.
Government employment is nothing more than a high paying form of welfare where you have to show up some where and than you get your check.
2 majors examples and they want to take over health care, we won't need the death panels, by the time you get a doctors appointment you'll have died of old age and that's if your parents set the appointment up for you the day you were born.
The government can't run itself let alone anything else.
It just so sickening what they do with our tax dollars and no accountability.

Electrical Global Warming

I am well aware of the alleged threat that global warming is caused by fossil fuels. I use the term alleged because it could just be the nature of the world to go through global warming and ice age periods and it wouldn't matter what we burned or didn't.

My question is, if mankind is causing or speeding up the global warming period is it all being caused by the use of fossil fuels or is there something else that is contributing to it that the government is not aware of or is covering up it's knowledge of? What am I talking about? Cell phones, satellite transmissions, high voltage electric lines crisscrossing the earth. The earth from my understanding has an electromagnetic field surrounding it and protecting us. What is the potential or possible harm from all these artificial electrical influences on the natural electromagnetic field? Every action has an equal and opposite reaction, so what is the opposite reaction to the constant bombardment of the earth's field by all this artificial electricity? Remember we are talking 24 hours a day bombardment of a natural force by an artificial one. Just one look at what seems to be an increased quantity and severity of lightening storms might make one think that Mother Nature is fighting back and attempting to restore or heal damage done to the electromagnetic field.

In addition I have seen satellite photos of the globe during it's night phase and it is lit up like the Las Vegas strip, this can't be good. Plants and animals need the light/dark cycle to stay healthy. If light pollution is slowing the growth rate of oxygen producing plants and upsetting the balance of the animals that help with their growth again possibly contributing to the global warming, ice age cycle.

If this is true or even partially true why hasn't the government said anything?

Any scientists out there have any comments?

Civil or class war, anyone think we're heading that way?

Is there or would there be a difference in a civil or class war?

I understand a month or so ago the weekend edition of the Wall Street Journal did a piece on the breaking up of America. New England, Central states, 3 separate countries made out of California that type of thing, I wasn't able to get a copy but was wondering if anyone did?
I believe someone said the main reason for the break up of America was too much federal control/interference in states affairs and to much taxation without adequate representation.

Would the break up of America be a bad thing?

I know I'm not happy at all with the federal government, it is way to large and way to encroaching on personal rights and liberties under the guise of safety and national security.

Can anyone without a reasonable doubt say with complete certainty that the US government did not allow 9/11 to happen the way Pearl Harbor was allowed? The reasons instead of getting us into a war was to usurp more rights from the citizens using fear as the means.Just some thoughts, outside of the Pentagon having slight damage no other government buildings were touched. As a matter of fact the only plane where the passengers "fought" back was suppose to hit the White House. The other 2 hit private buildings and I don't remember hearing any cell phone calls from those planes so I guess those passengers went willing to their deaths with out fighting. Why haven't we been able to find Osama? We track cows across borders when fighting the mad cow disease yet with all our intelligence agencies and those of our allies we can't find 1 man? Questionable in my mind. I had more than 1 person say to me that the reason Osama was never found was it was a deal with US government personnel. Go ahead use your people as martyrs, hit the twin towers, have the plane bound for the White House crash before getting there, (why was the cockpit on this plane open so it could be retaken but not the others?) and just skim the Pentagon. We will claim to look for you all over and never find you, in return you guarantee the US does no receive any further terrorist attacks. Osama gains millions of new recruits is a total hero to his people, Bush and Cheney take over Iraq's oil, and cause a war there that just keeps going on and on. American citizens lose more and more rights that once you lose even "temporarily" you never get them back. Kinda like our temporary income tax.I know it's just fantasy the US government would never do anything to take rights from the citizens. They completely remember they are suppose to do what we the people say not the other way around? Yeah right? 13 million American citizens on unemployment (today's paper). How many of them are federal or state employees?

I don't remember hearing of any federal or state layoffs, do any of you?

If there hasn't been why not?

Call, write, email your representatives and ask them why government employees are immune or protected, remember we pay for them out of taxes. Many of us have lost jobs or part of our income everything we buy keeps increasing in price and our taxes are going up. WHY? Time they have to live like us.

I read something the other day that said by 2050 or so we will have 9 billion people on the planet. Can the earth actually provide enough air, water and food for that amount of people? I'm sure some scientist somewhere has figured out how much air and water and food a human requires a year to just survive and they know how many can survive.Are carbon based fuels only a small part of global warming and the large part is too many people? I don't think we have to worry to much about aliens taking over the planet there is not going to be anything left soon. We could put up a sign however "THE EARTH IS FULL GO HOME!"Think about it, one theory put forth recently was that Mars had life and it destroyed that planet but before it died it sent colonists to Earth. And now we've destroyed this planet. Don't say we haven't we can't even agree on anything even on a small scale how could we ever agree on the correct way to save a planet? Has anyone heard of parental control, parental duty, parental responsibility? It appears not. I forgot what city or town or state banned the sale of Barbie dolls because something along the line of giving girls a false body image. Do these morons watch TV or listen to the radio, this country is going down the toilet and they're worried about a doll? If you're worried about false images you better ban TV, movies, magazines anywhere there are pictures of women. It's American culture actually every cultural has it's "perfect" type so now they want to make a CHILD'S TOY, A DOLL THAT HAS BEEN AROUND FOR 50 YEARS ILLEGAL right up there with automatic weapons and crack these people need a life.Back to my first question to my way of thinking it is the responsibility of the parents to give their offspring a good self image, to explain life to them that everyone is different and they should just be the best they can be. On the radio they were talking about “hype”. How Americans have the habit of hyping up the poorer choice. One example they were using was VHS over Beta. According to experts Beta was the better tape, yet VHS spent more money in hyping itself and became the major brand. It seems to happen in everything Starbucks is another example. The other thing Americans enjoy is novelty. When a product is being hyped and it is novel it becomes wildly successful for a time then reality sets in and buyers remorse starts. Is this what is happening with the new president? Did he only win because of the hype and the fact he was the first black candidate? Is buyer’s remorse setting in and that is why he is having problems getting solid democratic backing? Is he really the best person in this position? None of his ideas appear to help the average working class American; they just seem to be aimed at alienating big business and corporations. Don’t say we need to blindly get behind him and support his proposals that’s how most dictatorships, start blind foolish support and obedience. This new green house gas tax on business is just going to drive more companies out of America. I think it would be a lot more intelligent to loosen EPA and other restrictions on businesses to bring them back, to have them expand, to put more Americans back to work. Down the road work with industry to keep jobs in the US and protect the environment intelligently not with knee jerk reactions. If Obama and his administration does not do something quickly to bring real manufacturing jobs back to the US we won’t need to worry about EPA regulations, we won’t have any businesses any tax base any country. Taxing and putting the harshest restrictions on businesses in the world is not going to get the US going again. 4% percent of the popular vote was not a mandate or landslide by any stretch of an imagination. Obama has a long way to go to prove he is the best person for the position he holds and driving jobs out of the country doesn’t appear to me to be pro American. Maybe the radio show was correct and the hyped product is the worst choice or maybe Obama can prove that theory wrong. It’s all up to him.

Let's increase revenue and plan on using it and yet be doing everything we can to stop people from buying the item that is going to raise our revenue. Winston tastes good like a cigarette should, call for Philip Morris; I’d walk a mile for a Camel, the old cigarette slogans or jingles. I remember when they were on TV and radio along with liquor ads. Doctors use to appear in ads telling you which was their favorite brand. Then again back then they didn’t know the dangers of smoking. It was accepted I can remember smoking in grocery stores.
Then they started to find out how dangerous smoking was and slowly as it was verified and published the ads were taken off TV then radio.
What replaced them?
Ads for drugs, doctors, hospitals, insurance companies and the most dangerous of all, attorneys replaced cigarettes and booze. I’m not sure that was a good trade.
When I was growing up outside of aspirin, alka seltzer things like that none of the items I listed before were allowed to be advertised
I was musing today on health care today, cold blooded insurance companies, DRGs, doctors who don’t care about patients and are just in it for the money, drugs that can cause more problems than they cure, drugs that become addictive in a dose or two. People live longer, is the quality of life better? People without medical training see an advertisement for a drug and go to their doctor and demand it. The doctor prescribes it; the drug company makes money the doctor gets paid for the visit. Then the patient has reactions to the medication, more doctor visits and more drugs. The patient’s quality of life goes down yet they live longer using more drugs and doctor visits. Doctors and drug companies get richer. I thought it was illegal to practice medicine without a license yet advertising companies are telling people how to diagnose themselves what would you call that? Lawyers say it’s legal and why it keeps them rich as well.
We may not have lived as long on the average yet somehow I think we were healthier, happier, had more personal freedom and a better quality of life when cigarette ads were on TV and radio.

Hershey's chocolate is closing a plant in PA after 23 years and moving it to Mexico. Way to go NAFTA. Where's Obama and his people on this?They can tell someone not to buy a jet but protecting US workers I guess not. I think the article in the paper said 260 jobs.Is Nestles part of Hershey? Someone let me know what chocolate I can buy to support American workers.
I agree you can't boycott everything made outside of the country it is a global economy. However why should we support a company that puts American workers out of jobs. They moved to better their profits they only get that if we continue to buy it now. Are Mexico's FDA standards up to American standards? Or are they going to sell sub standard chocolate. NAFTA is great isn't it.
While it's only chocolate it's a stand for American jobs and American workers. Chocolate happens to be the product. It's a stand to tell the American government NAFTA with Mexico isn't working, all it's doing is costing American jobs. Had he been elected by the democratic party, had the rulers of it really wanted him they would have stood behind him a lot better than they have. Someone made a comment that the government giving money is good and it will get us out of the depression. It didn't work with FDR check your history WWII got us out of that one. No the government giving out money is like giving a fix to an crack addict, good for a short high. What is needed is to have new jobs in the private sector otherwise we're doomed. If that means cutting pork, welfare, and a lot of other services for now to give the private sector tax cuts so they open new plants and stores and businesses that's what is needed. Pelsoi and the rest of them don't care they have their millions and their retirements. Crack addicts and welfare recipients don't want their benefits cut because they may actually have to work. So who pays the price for these losers? The hard working American taxpayer. I'm not talking corporate welfare, I'm talking that any one who wants a loan to start or help grow a business gets it at a reasonable interest rate that must be payed back to the government just like they would have to to a bank.Credit card companies are forced to cut their interest rates to no more then 5% above prime. That would free up billions in disposable income that would stimulate the economy. We need real action to get the private sector moving, you just can't tax government employees if that's all we have to pay for the government it just doesn't work.We need a true leader not a puppet on the string of a useless self seeking politicians.

The greatest threat facing the American people today is the American government. It has gotten so huge, so unwieldy, it answers to no one. It is a ruling aristocracy at its worst.
We the people have allowed this to happen. We elect public servants as congressman and senators at the federal and state levels to do their best to protect Americans. To protect our country, our jobs, our resources, in short our lives, they have betrayed us. We have allowed them unlimited terms, and these offices are often passed down through family or party for generations. Except in rare cases due to publicity they are beyond the law.
This financial collapse might not have occurred had they been paying attention to America. Selling our jobs, and resources overseas is that protecting Americans? Allowing foreign nationals to buy and control American companies and move them overseas or bring in foreigners to run them, how does this protect America? I’ll make it easy for you, it doesn’t. The ruling class doesn’t care about anything but themselves. You see they get a retirement from 1 term in office with medical that most taxpayers don’t see after working 50 years. Out of office they use their influence to become lobbyists earning millions a year. What incentive is there for them to protect Americans when it could affect their lifestyle? None.
We need to take back America. We need to institute term limits, we need to institute time limits before elected officials can become lobbyists. We need laws keeping foreign concerns from buying and controlling American corporations. I miss old radio

How many of you remember AM radio? Wolfman Jack, Cousin Brucie, Imus in the morning and the rest that made radio great.
Don't get me wrong the signal is a lot better on FM it's just we don't have many jocks if any worth listening to. Either they're scared of the PC police so all they are or allowed to be is some bland clone of what some bean counter thinks will make money. Or they are just to vulgar and disgusting without any reason to be so, and they move to satellite radio. Where is the middle ground?
They should bring back WKRP in Cinncinatti and show people what a station should be.
Here in CT I remember a traffic reporter named Morgan Kaolian. He wasn't one of these talking heads you get today, he flew his own plane up and down the highways reporting traffic conditions. I got a chance to fly with him once it was great.
Imus a genius, who else could give you the Right Reverend Billy Sol Harkness of the first church of the gooey death and discount house of worship, and all the other funny, biting, satirical views of life at that time.
Wolfman Jack, spinning the hits with that voice. Cousin Brucie WABC evening radio. Pioneers all.
Who's up and coming? Nobody. Bean counters and the PC police won't let anyone do anything edgy. The real sad fact is people out there now don't realize what they're missing, they think John Teesh, Delila, Billy or Bobby somebody or other are good. A bunch of no talent talking heads.
Around here Damon Scott at least tries, the morning host on that station I wouldn't have call a square dance.

Children should be seen and not heard was how it was when my generation was growing up. We learned manners and more then that we learned we were suppose to use them. We learned to get respect, you gave respect and a lot more then that. We didn't have drive by shootings, teachers weren't afraid to go into school. If you got into trouble in school you were in more trouble when you got home. You learned if wanted something you worked for it, you didn't steal it or expect the government to give it to you. What has happened to the generations X & Y I have know idea. I do wonder who is going to support them when the boomers finally die off. I know some of them had work ethics and honor instilled in them I don't think enough to keep civilization going when the rest of them just expect to live off the government. End of the world.

Support global warming

We should start burning more fossil fuels, pollute more water (streams, oceans, rivers) cause the extinction of more species. Why not we've been doing it for how long now and now we want to stop. Why? This is our world we've ruined it this far let's see it through to the end. Hopefully it'll be quick and fairly painless, rather then long and dragged out if we keep trying to fight it. We owe it to all those species of animals and plants we've made extinct to join them in the next life. The generations coming up behind us are so useless and lazy they won't make it a generation without the 'boomer's' to do everything for them. So having the world end quickly is kinder and easier to them, rather then them actually having to do things and work, which they probably couldn't do anyway.So let's bring back gas at 20 cents a gallon cars that get 5 miles a gallon, bring back cigarettes at 18 cents a pack to just to help out.Remember just say no to saving the world.

Anyone ever see a ghost?

I did many years ago in Easton CT. It was so weird, it was winter we were to young to drive, so we took our sleds and ended up sledding down streets, just having fun. We started out on Park Ave in Bridgeport near the Easton Fairfield border. We ended up coming down this hill and were sitting there resting when we saw this woman in white with a light or lantern in her hand we called to her she didn't answer, we turned to talk to each other and when we looked back she was gone, then we saw a light further out in the woods. We didn't think much about it at the time, it was only years later that I realized we weren't that far from that haunted graveyard in Easton over by the Rte 136. I started reading about it and realized we had seen the ghost. they won't even let you park near that cemetery. The more I think on it there have been other strange things that couldn't be explained by normal reasons. Anyone else have any experiences with the paranormal

Musicians vs actors

I think musicians and songwriters are more talented work harder and get less respect than actors.Actors are over paid egotistical brats who have such inferiority complexes they are not comfortable being themselves, they have to play other people with different names and occupations to make themselves feel good. Granted it does take some talent to laugh or cry on cue and some do it better then others but get real it's all make believe because they can't face reality or who they really are. I get such a kick when I hear them say 'it's such an important role it means so much to life it sends a message." words like that, give me a break. The head of a major studio years ago said "movies are entertainment. You want to send a message use Western union". The real joke is the stupid people who actually listen to and follow these peoples advice in politics, business, love whatever loser following loser. Another good laugh is people getting hysterical when an actor dies or gets sick. Please, like they care about you? You need a life.
I know some music fans do the same thing take advice, get upset when something happens, they need a life too.
Musicians dress up on stage for entertainment, they understand that is what they are there for. The big difference is the talent, to sing, to carry a tune, to play an instrument, to write music. These are gifts and talents that actors don't come close to. Musicians are themselves and give away part of themselves in every note, every performance, they are not playing someone else they put it all on the line and say this is me. Take me or leave me. An actor does that in a role, they never take responsibility it is never them it is a lousy role, unless it a success then it's all them.Give me musicians as the more talented and real people any day.

To all of you who partied in the 60’s and 70’s. You know who you are, you’re the ones who drank and drugged and survived. The ones the phrase “ if you remember the 60’s& 70’s you weren’t really there” was coined for. Guess what?
I know some of you are now in 12 step programs, some didn’t need that. Most of you went on to become business people, teachers and other responsible members of society. Based on that you feel you escaped unscathed from the degenerate debauchery of your past. You’re half right. You escaped, your offspring and their subsequent offspring didn’t. Look around, the generation your birthed, continued the drinking and drugging and began the downhill slide of civilization as we knew it. The generation they set loose on the world is scary. The amount of brain cells they lack is amazing. If the normal workings of the body, ie heart, lungs weren’t involuntary they probably wouldn’t survive to puberty.
What is this based on, simple, “reality TV shows” “duh” along with other popular shows. Did you also notice how many shows and movies are remakes from the 60’s-80’s. No new ideas. Surprise, you have to have a brain to have an idea. How about reading? That’s a joke, most of them can’t spell look at text messages. What we use to call comic books they now call “graphic novels” just to boost their egos.
Good luck expecting them to take care of you if you need it, they can’t even take care of themselves. In a way it makes me hope that the newest end of the world date Dec 21 2012 comes true it would be kinder and gentler to them then actually having to live without people to do everything for them as we and their parents die off. I feel very lucky and blessed that I never had any kids, I can honestly say the future is not my fault.
Now we have empirical proof that drinking and drugging causes more damage to society then ever before thought.

Boring Xmas decorations

On my way home I keep seeing what passes as Christmas decorations today. You know the ones, those ugly no imagination used to design inflatable things, the mass produced reindeer with their heads going up and down or side to side. All those commercial useless rubber stamped decorations of what some moron without a bone of creativity in their body thinks people should put on their lawns and homes. Uninspiring and boring. But what should I expect, most people today have no novel thoughts or individuality. If it isn't in a movie, advertisement, magazine or some form of media they wouldn't eat it, read it wear it, and so on. While I don't believe in or celebrate Christmas I did enjoy years ago seeing the decorations. Every house that was decorated was different. Different colors, different shapes, they made their own sleds and reindeer out of plywood or wire along with stars and balls whatever came into their minds. Trees that had lost their leaves and those that didn't were covered in lights. Imaginations were used it was worth driving around to see the different decorations. Some towns even had contests. Now just go to to one of the home improvement stores and you've seen what's on most houses you don't have to waste time or gas driving around to be disgusted or bored. Look how far we've come "One stop boredom".

I'm tired of hearing about prayer breakfasts and any type of religious interference in government. The constitution calls for a separation of church and state. The state stays out of church business and the church should stay out of state business.It is the duty or responsibility of the followers of a religion to follow its dictates and laws. People who are not members of a religion should not have to follow it's laws. Christians don't believe in abortion, OK Christians shouldn't get one. However those who don't believe it's wrong shouldn't have to follow Christian doctrine. If churches and religions are going to continue pushing for laws that cause society to more and more mirror their religious laws they should be taxed and taxed heavily for violating the separation of church and state. One of the biggest jokes I see in this holier then thou push to control others is how the Christians are upset with Muslim countries that mirror their religion. I guess it's only OK for Christians to tell people how and what to believe.

Riding Free

Driving down the road last week (early Dec) I heard a public service announcement that actually caught my attention so I thought I’d write something about it. That being decided I promptly forgot all about it. Fast forward a few days and some friends heard the same announcement and sent me an email on it. Saved again.
The PSA was about the fact DUI laws apply to bikes as well as cars. Most people would have no objection with that. However since the announcement only mentioned an American made motorcycle, its specific sound and had a Harley revving in the background we found it highly objectionable. It appears the state of Connecticut is stereotyping Harley riders as drunks. I’m amazed HD hasn’t commented on it. Another form of stereotyping based on what you ride. Had it just said motorcyclists should remember that DUI laws apply to them there would be no issue. On the lighter side would you expect a fair, impartial intelligent PSA from the people who broadcast it in the middle of winter when the majority of bikes are put away for the season? Maybe the brain trust will run anti-drunk snowmobiling or sledding PSAs in July or August?
This would be a good cause for the CMRA to look into. Stereotyping a group of people based on their mode and brand of transportation. Sad part is that won’t happen anytime in the near future. This year depending on how the economic crisis plays out, how much of a smoke screen the politicians want out there to cover their ineptitude and incompetence they may try to push a helmet bill. If it comes about it will be hard fought battle. As it has been written before the CMRA is a victim of its own success, 25+ years without a helmet bill passing in this state. People have forgotten that it could still happen. Apathy has set in. People have forgotten the CMRA still needs your help. Support is definitely needed and I thank all of you who have remained members. Now that the kids are grown maybe you could step up your involvement a little. People are needed to fill all types of positions from making out flyers to setting up notification systems (to let people know of threats to their freedom) and everything in between. Please don’t be shy come down to a meeting, I’ve heard it put they are no worse than a root canal. I figure they’re about the same. In my mind the more you get involved with the CMRA the more you carry on a tradition that was started in 1776 the picking up and carrying the torch of freedom that has been handed down to every generation since. If you’re laughing at this think for a moment, all freedom whether it is the right for people to vote, live where they want anything and everything begins with personal freedom. If we as individuals don’t have freedom to ride how we want, how can America claim to be or stay free? I remember hearing that a federal politician once called “bikers the bastion of freedom” just because we stood up for our rights and freedom.
If you enjoy riding the way you want and have been a member thanks again for your support. If your buddy is sitting there enjoying his freedom yet not helping us he owes you. Tell him to put his money where his ride is and join the CMRA so the both of you can carry the torch. Remember the lifestyle you enjoy in the wind is threatened everyday by people wanting to control how and what you ride. Just say NO to them, join the CMRA.

Legalize Drugs

Should we legalize illegal drugs, heroin, cocaine and the like?
I say yes. I think it would greatly reduce the crime rate in this country. If you can buy your drug of choice for about the equivalent cost of a bottle of booze or a 6 pack what need do you have to steal. What was a $500-$1000 a day habit is now under $30. You can stay high all month on your welfare and/or social security check. Yes addicts would be given some sort of welfare, along with the option any time they chose to take it to enter a rehab that along with detoxing them would also provide education so that when they got out they were able to find jobs and become productive members of society. Burglaries, robberies and prostitution will plummet dramatically. No more drive by shootings by dealers protecting their turf.
Another major upside would be in taxes. Instead of pumping billions of tax dollars into a war we can’t win, we let the dealers set up legitimate stores the government sets the prices and profits then taxes the dealers. Paying the welfare to the addicts and letting them give the money for legal drugs seems strange at first glance. However no longer are we paying for incarcerating people for possession or sale of narcotics nor the crimes they needed to commit to get them. That’s a massive saving in police, court and jail costs. The welfare we would end up paying would be nowhere near these costs not to mention the cost to society as a whole with injuries the innocents as well insurance and legal claims. This again would keep more money in the taxpayer’s pocket.
Some will say absolutely not it will just make more addicts. However using that rationalization alcohol should be outlawed just as it was during prohibition because according to the above thinking it makes more alcoholics

Why do we ned mariage?

Why in this day and age of instant everything do we need something that's suppose to last a lifetime I mean we have speed dating, virtual dating, online relationships so why do we need a legality called marriage. I figure religions want it to insure followers and money. Why would the state want it? I mean we're stuck paying taxes no matter what and they even lower them if you're married. Lower taxes for married people doesn't seem to fit with the equality that we are all suppose to enjoy. As a matter a fact it appears to be a tax or a punishment for remaining happy. As far as having the same last name for the kids that reason went out the window when everybody started getting divorced and re-married and kids in the same household could have a half a dozen different names. The partners in this without marriage could have their names changed legally into a hybrid of both or something different so the name change is out the window. Property as long as both names are on it, it gets divided that way. I know women keep it going because they want alimony. That's the whole reason behind marriage. Legalized prostitution. At least California is honest about it and call it palimony a hybrid of prostitution and alimony.So marriage is really nothing more then women wanting money and to be taken care of for life. What happened to equal rights and the feminist movement? I guess in the naked light of day equal rights only apply in certain ways.Based on all this what is the big deal with gay marriage. As I said in an earlier post 'they have the same right to misery as straights do'.

Hairspray & Women

A friend and I were talking one day and as usual the discussion came around to women. He was about 10+ years older then me so I thought he might have some insight into why women don't think right or normal. Well it turns out he did have a theory, he called it the "Hairspray Theory". It works like this. When women are little girls their minds work fine, they are nice and friendly they can understand things, they make sense. Then it happens, fashion takes over, their mother or big sister or some other older women takes them under their wing and introduces them to "fashion". Make-up, dress up, perfume and then the dastardly culprit "Hairspray". By this point you're thinking as I was that my friend wasn't thinking to clearly himself, however having a male brain that is correctly wired I let him finish his statement. Did it ever make sense! Men and women take a look at the list of ingredients on a can of hairspray. Are any of them NOT on the DOT list of hazardous chemicals? You know the chemicals truck drivers need a special endorsement on their license to carry, the ones that the fire department puts on those protective suits and self contained breathing apparatus before they clean up any spills. The same chemicals homeland security would wonder why a civilian had them and the military would send in their bio-chemical warfare people to check them out. Those are what makes up hairspray. We are not suppose to be around it yet from before a little girl reaches 10 years old these chemicals are being sprayed directly on her scalp talk about child abuse. Don't you think that these chemicals which you need protective gear to handle permeate through her skin and bone and directly into her brain after a period of time? I do. What damage does it do to the brain and thinking process of the woman. I don't believe any scientific tests have yet to be done since I believe this is the first publishing of this theory. Enough non scientific data has definitely been gathered by men over the years and they were always told by the women they were wrong it was the men who had the problem with the brain. Talk about the inmates running the asylum, they dose themselves daily sometimes more then once with hazardous chemicals and don't think it does any damage, wow! I'm not even mentioning the chemicals in dyes, colorings, straighteners, conditioners. It's amazing we don't need special hazmat cemeteries to bury them in.It does get worse though men are now starting to use more and more of these same products. If this trend continues we may see the breakdown of civilization within a very few years. I am going to apply for a Federal grant to bring together the worlds top scientists to see if there is any way to reverse this condition in women. In the mean time please stop using it, "Just say NO to brain damage"
My friend's name remains a guarded secret to protect him.As far as I go I figure we could all use a good laugh. Hopefully the women will understand if they haven't used hairspray today.

Women = 2nd class

Why do intelligent women who in most parts of their lives be it business, personal or public to name the top 3 do not accept they are 2nd class or inferior to men, accept that they are in religious matters?
I don’t understand why the top 3 religions of the world, Islam, Christianity and Judaism keep women subjugated as 2nd class citizens completely subservient to men and women accept it. It makes no sense to me.
I would think that any creator would make all of one species equal within itself. I can’t believe a God or Creator or Higher Power (to cover all bases) would have created women given them intelligence, free will and different talents and abilities then man, just to make them servants of man. It doesn’t appear to be the work of a loving power.
Yet there was one religion/culture that said all were equal. Men and women had the exact same rights; to property to marriage to divorce everything was completely equal in their civilization. That religion/culture was the Celts who ruled what is now known as Europe until the Christians who apparently did not care for women being equal to men killed them off, stole their temples, lands and holidays and put into slavery and bondage women where they remain still today in the eyes of religions, second class citizens only there to serve men.
Since no one has ever come back from death to tell us women are second class servants, since when these religions were forming men were stronger, the hunter gatherer, protector and probably the ones who could write and record things so they just told women this is how it is to be. Women at that time couldn’t change it. Men wrote it down and it became “The Truth of Life”, and women accept it still today. What also makes me wonder is how Christian and Jewish women can decry the way they see women treated in Islam and not recognize the same subjugation their religions place on them.
Can anyone explain why we are not all equal in the eyes of a God?

Darwin's Law

The world is over populated. We are running out of fresh water, air, food, most of the essentials of life. Why? Charles Darwin through scientific study found that species that survived did so because the ones who had the majority of the strengths their species required to survive their predators, lived (the smart ones). The ones that did not died (the stupid ones). This is nature’s way of selective breeding as people have done with dogs, cats and other animals and what some scientists are trying to do with humans. Nature’s way has worked for millions of years as proven by the fact that the earth has never run out of air, water or food. We are now in danger of doing just that. Why? The answer I feel is simple, we have tried to undermine Darwin’s law of survival of the fittest.
We have instituted safety laws that protect the stupid from themselves. Seatbelt, airbags, they are all good ideas. I don’t feel they should be mandatory. If someone is not smart enough to realize that texting, talking on a cell phone while driving, along with putting on make –up reading the newspaper, programming a GPS device or doing other distracting things while they are suppose to be controlling a steel weapon weighing thousands of pounds at high speeds they probably won’t be smart enough to utilize the safety devices. When they crash and burn they are just proving Darwin’s theory. If they crash into the more intelligent people the intelligent ones will be utilizing the safety devices even more confirmation of the theory. If they run into people of their caliber who are not utilizing the devices again no loss it just re-confirms the theory and leaves more air, water and food for the rest of us. So help protect yourself and your loved ones if you feel you are in the fittest category help repeal these laws that are hastening the end of the world.

Love vs Like

I was blessed to grow up in that that legendary time when teachers taught and disciplined. Not only the subject but they also attempted to guide students to common sense and logic, along with what it was like out in the world in those days where entitlement and empowerment didn't exist you had to pull your own weight. Something reminded me today of a teacher and what he said. This man was a WW II veteran. Ram rod straight and to my high school eyes appeared tough as nails. I still remember his favorite sayings " if I say it try to remember it, if I say it twice try harder and if I write it on the board it's on the test" was one and the other was " if you throw something at the garbage can it's an hour detention, but I award accuracy so if you make it it's only a 1/2 hour.". Well this next piece of his wisdom has stuck with me for over 35 years. His daughter was getting married and he came in and announced it to the class, as usual the girls oohed and aahed and the boys rolled their eyes standard for a high school class. Then came the wisdom. One of the girls asked what he said to his daughter, his reply shut up the classroom, he said he asked his daughter if she liked the guy. She said she loved him. To which he replied that's nice but do you like him? She said what difference does it make I love him. He said people fall in and out of love every day, people don't fall in and out of like. You can grow to love someone if you like them. Just because you love someone doesn't mean you like them or ever will. In his mind liking someone will get you through the tough times. Love on the other hand is such a strong emotion and there is just a thin line between it and hate.Over the years I've come to think he was totally correct and if that little gem had been passed around and people actually followed it Dr Phil, e-harmony and the rest that genre wouldn't exist and more then half the divorce lawyers would need real jobs.

Fat Kids & Adults

There's an article in todays newspaper about obesity in children. Now they want to give them cholesterol medication, fat free milk (then they'll complain of brittle bones) and what have you.Anyone think of lowering their caloric intake and and getting them to do some physical activity on a daily basis? Granted thanks to lawyers and lawsuits pick -up games of baseball, football, dodge ball and the like don't exist. I don't think they've outlawed playing tag or going for walks or runs yet. In my mind outside of the small 5-10% of people who have a metabolic problem (or are on certain medications) the reason the rest of them be they kids or adults are morbidly or grossly obese is because they eat to much and don't do anything because they are lazy. Get up to answer the phone instead of keeping it with you anything to move a little.I can still get into my uniform from '82. No I don't go to gyms or workout. I stay active, I go on the walking path when I can, I walk my dogs, I cut my lawn (not with a riding lawn mower) I do my own yard work. In parking lots I park far away so I have to walk. I watch what I eat and when, the bigger meal you have before you go to bed the fatter you get. The biggest meal should be breakfast so you can burn the calories before you lie down. I read that after you turn 30 your body doesn't metabolize food the same way so if you want to stay the same weight you have to maintain the same activity and eat less.If your not one of the 5-10% stop whining the problem is YOU you are lazy stop eating and do some exercise.

4 day work week for government?

The Record Journal today reports some towns are considering going to a 4 day work week to save fuel costs for the town. Someone said some towns could save up to $50000 a year in fuel costs. The only people who should be driving constantly should be the cops, followed by fire and ambulance. If by stopping non emergency personnel from driving 1 day a week you can save that much you have little to no grasp on budgets or financial responsibility. If the officials feel that these people don't need to be on the road 5 days don't have them on the road, have them in the office available to help the public. Please don't even tell me by closing the buildings you will save on heating and cooling they don't shut off any of that. I keep my house at 65 during the winter why don't public buildings do the same, and in the summer 78 that would save a lot of money right there. I'll combine this with another vent. Public offices tax, zoning, town clerk etc. should work 11a to 8p to allow the taxpayers of the town to do business with the town without having to take time off from work. We pay the salaries and all the bills so we shouldn't have to lose money or time from work to do our business with the town, this should not be on overtime it should be the normal hours, remember the town hall is a service business just like any retail store and should be available to the taxpayers just as a retail store is available to it's customers.

Motorcycle Manners and Dress Code

I'll start this with a public service announcement of sorts.If you are going to start riding a motorcycle or scooter because of the gas mileage, TAKE THE MOTORCYCLE SAFETY FOUNDATION (MSF) BEGINNER RIDERS COURSE. They are given at the community colleges so just call and sign up the cost is about $150 and worth every penny. This applies to those of you who are buying a 49cc scooter because you don't need a license you have the same risks as those on full dressed Harley's. Those who last rode when "Easy Rider" was first released, your skills are rusty there are more cages on the road take the course.Now for the vent.Dress like a biker. Plaid Bermuda shorts and white tee shirts don't cut it. We don't wear our leather and chains to your golf courses or tennis courts so show some respect. Also one 3rd degree burn on your leg from the pipes will show you the error of your ways.This doesn't apply to crotch rocket riders. You guys have your own style and your not right in the head anyway.Manners on the road. Wave to other bikers, extend your left hand slightly out and down, the passenger can also wave. When you see a broken down bike (you can usually tell by the body language) if they're alone pull over and ask if they need help even if it's only to use your cell phone. Remember you are part of a brother and sisterhood this is what separates us from the cagers.So take the course learn how to dress with pride as a biker and show some manners out there and you'll have years of happy memories.Ride Safe and Free

Cell phone morons

I've been noticing more and more when I'm driving people weaving from side to side, totally ignoring those white signs with the numbers on them either 10-15 mph below or at warp drive, braking for green lights, right turns on red without stopping, traffic control signs mean nothing. Are these people driving under the influence? No they are talking on a cell phone when they should be driving. It's illegal to talk on a cell phone without a hands free device in Connecticut and other states. I think it should be illegal with a hands free device. You're operating a piece of steel that weighs several thousand pounds and you're not paying attention. You should receive the same penalties as a drunk driver because you're just as much out of control of that vehicle as a drunk is.
Why do people need to talk while they are driving, shopping, eating or just walking? Are you really that important? Or do you just hang with a bunch of losers who call each other all the time to make each other feel important? Get some lives and maybe some day you actually may do something decent for humanity. Oh and lets not forget Mr. & Ms business person you are such a multitasker that you probably need the phone to look at pictures of your kids and spouse and need the name that goes with it, is your tombstone going to be in the shape of laptop or blackberry and the coffin that of a cell phone. Epitaph 'I didn't spend enough time at work'.
You need a life too. When was the last time you did something that really on a human personal level helped someone? You probably don't have a clue what a human personal level is unless you can Google it so my question is pretty much worthless.
Some medical studies are now showing that close prolonged exposure to the rays coming off a cell phone cause brain cancer. Maybe you should have to be over 18 to use one just like cigarettes or maybe 21 like booze? Then again I'm not sure how they could prove this causes brain cancer because in my mind anyone with a brain and using it would not talk on a phone the amount of time needed to get the cancer.
To all you who feel as I do let's help suppress this disease, when you see someone talking on the cell phone driving a car, blow your horn at them, in a restaurant or store ask them to put it on speaker so you can hear both sides of the conversation. Most important contact your elected officials and have them ban cell phone use by people under 18 or 21 until they prove that the use of a cell phone doesn't cause cancer. We know it causes atrophy of human personal relationships. Insurance companies are now finding out how many accidents are caused by drivers talking on the cell phone hands free or otherwise and with the money they're paying out those laws will change soon.
In your wondering, yes I do have a cell phone it's prepaid and I carry it in my car and on my bike and use it very sparingly, I had 300 minutes on it at the end of January and still have over 200 left.

There should be a law

We just went thru a heat wave out here in the North East. Ok it's called weather, mother nature normal happenings. So why does every media outlet make such a big deal of it? Why do they close schools? A lot of taxpayers are out working in the heat so why should kids and teachers not have to? Years ago there was no a/c in schools you just dressed cool drank a little more water and guess what you lived. Now the front page of the newspaper has rules to survive in the heat. I don't think our ancestors needed rules when they settled this country they just had common sense, when it's hot drink more liquid, work slower, dress cooler, our military personnel in the Mideast are fighting in temperatures that are higher then these the wimps are crying about. The same thing happens in the winter, when temperatures drop to freezing or below the media is putting out rules so people will stay alive.
I think that should be illegal. If you are past the age of reason and have what passes for normal intelligence these days and you don't know how to survive in different temperatures that's your problem. In my mind you're stupid and we don't need your DNA in the gene pool if we want the human species to survive. Based on that the media should not be allowed to help keep you alive. Even little kids or people with mental handicaps realize that when it's cold dress warmer, when it's hot dress cooler and when you get thirsty drink. If a "normal" person can't figure that out or they want to be so stylish in how the dress or act that they die because of it, oh well they'll be a stylish corpse. The gene pool will be better of with out them and there will be one less carbon footprint to waste oxygen and water on.

I wonder what thoughts go thru the minds of Bush and Cheney about the damage they've done to the USA. I wonder if they even care. In 4 years the 2 men who were elected to protect, lead and guide the greatest nation history has ever known have brought it to it's knees possibly even down for the count.

4 years ago Saddam Hussien ruled Iraq he was selling oil at $19 a barrel everything in the world was proceeding in what was normal fashion. Then Bush and Cheney were "re-elected" some say they were given the election because Bush's brother was Governor of FL the state who's recount gave the election to Bush and Cheney.

Bush had a problem with Saddam Hussien since back around 1990 when Saddam kicked daddy Bush's ass in the first gulf war it was now payback time. Bush had no problem enlisting the help of Cheney, they were both oil men and their other oil friends didn't like Saddam either because he sold oil too cheap.

The Bush Cheney administration declares that Iraq has weapons of mass destruction (never proved) then send in the US military, capture Saddam execute him and turn the oil fields over to their friends. In 4 year oil is hovering around $130 per barrel heating oil and gas are over $4. per gal from under $1. for heating oil and maybe about $1.25 for gas 4 years ago. Why is the US not getting the Iraq oil for free since we are giving them billions in aid per month not counting the 4000+ American lives lost and the 100,000+ American lives ruined. Thanks Bush and Cheney in any other country you would have been impeached and tried for treason. I can't find a valid reason it hasn't happened. I can only hope who ever is elected in November remembers their responsibility is to the USA not oil companies, multinational corporations, or other countries but America over and above all others.

Chlorinate the Gene Pool

Why do we keep certain people alive? Some evil sick criminal gets into a shoot out with the cops after raping or killing someone, the cops shoot him and then our tax dollars are used to pay medical bills to keep him alive. Why? File the incident under did society a favor bury the criminal, give the cops a couple a days off and get on with life. Suicide in prison or jail why stop it or punish the guards for not stopping it? If someone wants to kill themselves let them. Wasting our tax dollars on them is ridiculous. On the same subject why should criminals get free medical and dental when many law abiding taxpayers on the outside can't afford it? If they need it let their families pay or suck their bank accounts and any other assets they have dry. As a matter of fact charge them room and board until they run out of money. So what if they don't have a nice house and a large bank account to come out to why should taxpayers go broke keeping these criminals alive and healthy when if they weren't in there they'd have to pay. In addition why waste tax dollars chasing down criminals who kill or rob other criminals. If 2 drug dealers or rapists or murderers get in a fight and one or both die so what. If they're both dead bury them. If one is dead and the other running bury the dead one and don't waste tax dollars chasing the other. As long as they are not hurting innocent people who cares what happens to them. Hopefully they'll all end up killing each other off. Who would really care not me. We don't need these people procreating, their DNA line needs to end now.

Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD)

Let me start by saying I'm not any type of medical professional nor am I associated in any way with the practice of neither medicine nor psychology.

I am simply an observer of life and I do my best to look at things in the simplest manner or as I was taught in grammar school math to reduce things to the lowest common denominator.

With all this in mind my view on the above mentioned disorder is that it does exist , medication may help alleviate some of the symptoms but to have the disorder go into a remission (for want of a better term) you would need specialized therapy probably inpatient for a period of time. This suggestion is based on what I feel is the cause of the disorder and that is television, the computer and now other readily accessible form of electronic stimuli.

How does this electronic stimulus cause ADD you're wondering, quite simple really?

As I describe my theory please take into account I will be using simple layman's terms.

The human brain has many complex connections in it and for it to function in what is considered a normal manner they all must be properly aligned and connected to each other. This alignment/connection takes place during childhood. This is when I feel we develop our attention span.

My analogy of this time period is that of the molding of jello. You mix your jello, (this is the part of the brain that aligns and connects all the brains sensors) then you let it stay still until its form solidifies. This is what is not happening to people with ADD, their brains are not allowed the time to form properly what I perceive to be a traumatic brain injury prior to the brain being fully formed. I feel if you were to study this disorder you would discover that the percentage of people with it has increased since the advent of TV and the two working parent household.

Still confused on how this causes ADD. Again it's simple, prior to the two working parent household and the use of the TV as an electronic babysitter, children were read to, they played games inside and outside, they developed an attention span by playing hide and seek, doing puzzles, drawing and other activities of that sort that required concentration for extended periods of time, 15 minutes or longer. At the same time this was helping them develop an imagination of their own. Enter the electronic babysitter, the TV and computer. Both parents are now working and multitasking to give themselves and their children the best things money can buy when actually the best for the child would be a parent there. Because of this the parents no longer take or have the time to read, play, or just be with and listen to their children. The child is plopped down in front of the TV or computer where the electronic images or stimuli change every 15 seconds to 30 seconds, in my analogy of the jello this is akin to constantly shaking the jello mold as it solidifies. Picture that if you will, a bowl of jello that instead of begin smooth, is as jagged and turbulent as the ocean in a hurricane. I feel the same happens to the receptors and sensors in a child's brain they are not given the time they need to properly form or connect. In addition when the longest sustained attention time a forming brain is exposed to over and over again is 60 seconds or less how could you expect this person to have any longer attention span as they age. Their brain would require re-training or wiring or an additional layer of jello on it that is allowed the time to form properly. This is why I feel an inpatient time maybe required.

The sad fact of this is that I feel for the most part this disorder could be prevented if parents took a little more time with their children and allowed them to develop as nature intended not as a fast paced materialistic society feels they should. Remember we reap what we sow. These children will be running the world someday and taking care of us in our old age scary isn't it.

I don't expect the medical profession to agree with this since treatment possibly would entail actual hands on treatment not just 'here's your drugs call me tomorrow', also it is a simple diagnosis for the disorder made by a lay person and to justify their degrees and costs they complicate everything. Parents for the most part probably won't agree since it would mean they need to take responsibility for their actions or lack of action as a parent. That's OK I leave to you the reader to use your own mind and decide if this theory has merit and should be looked into. Remember you have a mind of your own use it. What they tell you in advertisements and the media is what they want you to think which is not necessarily right or correct for you but it keeps them in control and makes them money.

Lowes Home Improvement

I'm not a big fan of mega stores or chains, I feel they killed the American dream, no one can start with nothing and build themselves a living anymore.

However right is right and fair is fair and when they do something decent and customer friendly they should be acknowledged for doing such.

A year ago in March I purchased a quantity of laminate flooring. Do to life and the interesting things that happen to you as your living it I wasn't able to install it until this March, or at least try to install it.
This floor would not go together. A friend of mine who builds barns was helping me install it and we had trouble getting the pieces to interlock and when they did and you walked on them 1/2 of them unlocked. We tried for about 5 hours on a Sat, I tried by myself most of the day Sunday the floor was worthless I couldn't get it to work.

On Monday I called Lowes and explained the situation. They told me a manager from the store I bought it at would contact me in 24 hours. Yeah sure, OK I'll wait. You know it happened. Eric from the Wallingford CT store called me. Again I explained the situation and the time frame a year had just about past. I expected to be blown off ignored told forget it it was to late. That didn't happen Eric was very professional he asked questions told me I had to find the receipt so he could give me credit. I was astounded. I dug out the receipt brought it down to him, he did his paper work a Lowes truck came to my house picked up all the flooring and padding as well as tools for a full credit. They then delivered the new hard wood and tile floor, (no more laminate).

I had heard they stand behind their products but I didn't expect it to this extent. Eric and the others I met, the men who picked up the old floor and those who delivered the new, the people at the courtesy desk were all professional, helpful and courteous a credit to Lowes. Based on this experience I would recommend Lowes to anyone.

Out of the World Radio Foul Mouth Radio

I was stuck in a car this weekend where the owner loved his satellite radio. What a horrendous experience, I haven't been subjected to that much vulgarity since running into my ex wife soon after the divorce or just being around a group of drunks at closing time in some dive, lucky for me it has been years since either experience. People actually pay for this? I would have paid to have it turned off. I guess they claim they need to broadcast like this because the FCC wouldn't allow it it over the normal air waves. I think they couldn't get any sponsors and they had to take their no talent somewhere, so off the planet seemed like a good idea. It's too bad we can still hear them at times.
What talent does it take to swear and call people names, and discuss bodily functions in gutter terms? None as far as I concerned. Go to any low life establishment and you'll find this talk, it's nothing more then a bunch of emotionally stunted people who have no idea how to express themselves as decent functioning human beings. Apparently in order to fool their own minds into thinking they are normal they elected this Howard Stern person king of the brain dead and his behavior justifies theirs and makes it OK.
Let's get one thing straight, I swear, I know all the words, how to spell them and what they mean but unlike the foul mouths I use them sparingly and at appropriate times like when you slam your finger with a hammer, your wife just wrecks the car again, times like that. They can also be used in comedy ask George Carlin for his list. What's the difference between what is on that radio and a comic using the same words in a routine. Simple, most comics are intelligent people who use the words sparingly to emphasize a point or punch line very few curse every other or every third word. Most of the best comics rarely swear because they know as I was taught vulgarity is the last resort of a small mind. People who can think and express themselves intelligently do so. Those who can't, resort to vulgarities, trash talking, attempting to put people down to feel bigger themselves and label it 'humor' and surround themselves with others of low intelligence, low self esteem and huge egos and try to make others look foolish for not liking their behavior. And we just look at them shake our heads and give thanks we can think.
